Here is what I sent to a few friends earlier this week:
Guess what? The Slice of Life Slicing Challenge on the Two Writing Teachers site starts Thursday.
Are you in?
C’mon, some of you did it last year….and me too.
If I can, you can.
No, I definitely do NOT have time this year. Not even a little bit.
And yes, I did totally drop the ball on my once a week slicing and posting (on my prof blog) once school got going.
But guess what?
I’m going to try anyway.
And I think you should too.
At least some of them are in.
I may also have convinced a couple newbies to at least check it out.
Last year I sliced all 31 days.
I used to slice once a week and post professionally once a week.
Then I didn't. For a long, long time.
And after a while, it seemed like I couldn't.
Now I'm starting again, and things at home and at work are busier than they've ever been.
And you know what?
I'm in.
It's nuts, but I'm in.
I'm glad you are in I have missed you throughout the year. I got a few of my friends to join in too, including my bestest teaching buddy.

I'm so glad you keep pushing me. I can't wait to see what we do the next 30 days!
ReplyDeleteYey, you're in! I was looking for you. I even had a hard time beginning because it gives me a certain daily routine--I'm getting quite spoiled now in retirement. Maybe we should look at it like washing our faces in the morning--we just do it. It feels good, makes us look good, and it is good for us!!! Don't forget to think of the little things.
ReplyDeleteYes - it's crazy and scary. I'm new at SOLC, blogging and social networking in general, but I'm loving this digital learning community! So true how you said, "Then I didn't. For a long, long time. And after a while, it seemed like I couldn't." Almost like a reverse snowball. So keep on, keepin' on!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are taking the plunge again. I feel similar doubts, but need to give it a go! Good luck. ~ Theresa
ReplyDeleteYes you are in and we are here to encourage you too. You are brilliant with your writing and I can't wait to read the nuggets you will share. :)MaryHelen
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are in! You have been missed on both of your blogs as you have so much knowledge and creativity to share! I know I "borrowed" many ideas from you -- may have to try the ipod poetry again! I think we all have enough excuses to say we can't do it or we don't have enough time. But it's the effort. It's the creating of a good habit. Welcome back Ruth!
ReplyDeleteYour slices are ones I remember from last year. I'm glad you're a part of this year's challenge!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to read you are in! I love the stories from your sofa.
ReplyDeleteYou give me hope that I can do this!!! I can't wait to follow your slices this month.
ReplyDeleteIT'S ABOUT TIME THAT YOU ARE SLICING AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are in! Your voice makes me smile. We are certainly nuts for this commitment, but it is the best kind of nuts to be.
