Ready

I'm ready for warm weather. It doesn't need to be hot; just warmer than it is now. My hands and feet get cold sometime in late October and stay that way until they thaw sometime in late March or early April or whenever the fickle Indiana weather decides I've suffered long enough.

I'm ready for days outside. They wouldn't have to be perfect days; just good enough. I love to watch it snow and have been known to instigate snowball fights and have engineered the building of more snowmen than I can count but sometimes a girl needs to get out and walk on newly warm grass.

I'm ready for a little sun. It doesn't need to be constant; just more than a peek every week or so. I have been wearing several layers even when I'm inside and have worn my thick socks thin and I am pretty sure I cannot remember what I look like with a little--but not too much--skin showing.

I'm ready. I don't want it all; just enough. Skin to feel a little sun and bare toes on warm grass and fingers that don't look purple-blue and just enough warm for it not to be cold.

  1. I'll agree with you! I don't like hot. I do like about 70-75 degrees. That is just perfect!

  2. Oh you are so NOT alone. I need the sun so much I very well may curl up in a window the next time it comes out...even if it is in another classroom! I like your idea of toes in the grass, but it makes me realize that I need a pedicure!

  3. I'm with you. Just a touch of warmth would be welcome. Friday may be 70, I'm giddy with the thought.

  4. Oh man me too! It's supposed to get in the 70's Friday, I can hardly wait, and I'm tired of the dull drab colors of winter! Bring on the green and pinks!

  5. Oh, yes, my hands and feet are cold all winter, too. It gets old. I don't like anything about winter except the first snow. It also brings back good memories. I think I'm tickled that I don't have to get out in it if I don't want to. Yes, warmth returns a little this weekend. Remember last year?!!

  6. I love this line, "I don't want it all, just enough." I live in Maine, I hear ya!

  7. Your repetition works well. Glad you are slicing even though you're so busy.

  8. I feel your pain. Today, on our run, I commented to L on how good the sun felt on my face... and then the wind picked up. I too am ready, friend. Let's plan a summer date at your pool!
